06/15/2007 - Toronto, ON (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Sidney Crosby took home the first award of the NHL Award Night as he notched the Lester B. Pearson Award as the most outstanding player in the league as voted upon by the NHL Players Association.

Crosby, who has already won the Art Ross as the league's top point-getter, finished the year with 120 points (36 goals, 84 assists) and became the youngest to do so at 19 years, seven months. It was later revealed that he skated the last few weeks of the regular season and the entire postseason with a broken foot.

Crosby is also nominated for the Hart trophy, the youngest finalist since a 19-year-old Wayne Gretzky was nominated following the 1979-80 season.

Tampa Bay forward Vincent Lecavalier and Vancouver netminder Roberto Luongo were the other nominees.

New York Rangers forward Jaromir Jagr won the Pearson last season. The trophy, which has been awarded every year since 1971, was named for the former Prime Minister of Canada. Boston's Phil Esposito took home the inaugural honor.
